  • Pragmatic Works Foundation Provides Job Placement and Training for Returning Vets and Jobless

Jacksonville, Fla – When Stuart Phillips was downsized from his construction career because of the economic climate he discovered Pragmatic Works Foundation . “I had just gotten married,” said Philips, “and I needed a way to continue supporting my family.” Pragmatic Works Foundation offered a month-long training session in information technology (IT) that set Phillips down a new road. “I was able to learn new skills and was setup with a job interview within two weeks.  I was offered the job and am now on a new and rewarding career path.”

Pragmatic Works Foundation, the newly founded non-profit organization, is providing free career training in the IT field for veterans and those who have lost their jobs because of economic hardship.

“The veterans we typically see, for example,” said Brian Knight, president of Pragmatic Works Foundation, “may have had a specific technical job in the military but when they try to transition to the civilian world, they find that hiring managers are seeking a broader skill base. The Foundation provides training to help grow those specialized skills learned in the military into skills that are universally desired.”

The Foundation’s program includes technical training on high demand Microsoft technologies such as database administration or application development. There is also mentoring on soft skills such as mastering interviews as well as a job placement service. There are 18 seats in the program that fill monthly, but priority treatment is given to veterans returning from overseas.

Applications are now being accepted until March 20th for the next training session beginning in April. For more information on requirements or to complete the application visit http://www.pragmaticworks.com/foundation

The Foundation is also seeking more business partners for intern-level placement. The program offers potential employers a cost effective way to fill vacant IT positions.

Pragmatic Works Foundation, a non-profit IT training center servicing the greater Jacksonville area, works to educate and place passionate people who are interested in joining the technology field. For more information please contact Brian Knight at bknight@pragmaticworks.com, or on the world wide web at http://www.pragmaticworks.com/foundation.

  • #9 Reason to Manually Convert DTS Packages

About a week ago, we started a series of cartoons about why you’d like to manually convert DTS Packages to SSIS instead of using an automated program like DTS xChange. From the Pragmatically Speaking site, you can see the previous items in the series and I hope you enjoy #9, as it’s equally politically incorrect.
