Azure is a huge animal with a lot of things to learn and it keeps growing every day. Here I’ll give you my view on what you should focus on, based on what type of projects we’re working on and what technologies we see our consultants working on the most.
First up, you need to know Azure databases. You need to be able to understand working with them just like you work inside a SQL database or any others. From there, you should focus on Azure Data Warehouse. Data warehouse is a big part of our business and we see many of our projects working on that.
Another thing we’ve seen a lot of demand for recently is Power BI, both Premium and Embedded. We foresee most of our projects for the remainder of 2018 focused on these technologies. Up to now, over 75% of our projects this year have been on Azure.
Some other things we have requests for is Azure Data Lake, followed by Cosmos DB, Data Bricks, as well as Azure Data Factory and SQL DB.
So, if you’re looking for a place to start in Azure, I suggest jumping into Azure Databases, DW and Power BI.
