Prior to recording, he created a Power BI report from the Dataverse tables linked to the app. He then published that report to the Power BI service and pinned either full report pages or individual tiles to dashboards.
Those dashboards are then embedded into Power Apps screens inside Microsoft Teams, so that users can filter, drill down, and analyze the collected student data seamlessly.

Live report pages allow users to interact with visuals directly inside the app. Individual tiles, on the other hand, act as shortcuts—when clicked, they open the full report in Power BI.

Data used in the app, such as student check-ins, can be exported to Power BI through Dataverse. By choosing Analyze in Power BI inside Teams, a connection file is downloaded. Opening it in Power BI Desktop reveals the Dataverse tables with their relationships already defined.
Matt highlights best practices when preparing data for reporting:
Because Dataverse is relational, Power BI automatically establishes one-to-many relationships, such as between students and their check-ins or rooms and multiple check-ins.
For time-based analysis, Matt incorporates a date table. This enables filtering by year, month, or day instead of just individual timestamps. Pragmatic Works provides a Power Query script, shared by Devin Knight, to easily generate this table within Power BI.
