Introducing Our New Course - Power BI for Consumers

Written by Brian Knight | Jul 19, 2017

In today’s world, businesses run on data. Anyone who is not a developer in your organization is a data consumer. Knowing how to view and share reports on your data, or even create a Power BI dashboard can help you in your day-to-day tasks that involve data.

Are you a consumer and need to learn how to consume Power BI reports within your organization? Then our new course, Power BI for the Consumer, is for you!

  • Who is the class for?

This class is for everyone from doctors to accountants to managers that are data consumers. Developers use Power BI to build data sets and reports and publish them to a server. Once it’s published, then you need to be able to see, or consume, these reports.

  • What will I know by the end of the class?

By the end of this course, you will know everything around consuming Power BI. You’ll know how to view and share reports, as well as to create a dashboard and how to use Power BI in Excel. You’ll also learn how to use a great feature that allows you to ask questions and Google your own data, and Power BI will build reports out of those questions.

  • How fast can I get ramped up with this class?

As a consumer, technology is probably not your focus. That’s why we created this short, 2- hour class that gives you only the core information you need to consume Power BI.

  • Are there any hands-on exercises to follow along?

Absolutely! Our courses are always interactive. You’ll watch the exercises being done, then we’ll give you some requirements to do yourself and have you try the exercise on your own. Once you resume the video, we’ll show you how to build those requirements in case you get lost along the way.

  • What do I need to know before taking the class?

This class was designed to appeal to the variety of consumers of Power BI with very little technical skills. Essentially, all you need is a browser to take this class. If you have some Excel experience, you can do things like integrating Power BI into Excel and use it as a data source, although this is not a necessary requirement.

So, if you’re a data consumer and need to expand your knowledge of how to consume Power BI reports, then this is the perfect course for you. You’ll learn all you need to know in only 2 hours!
