We're Coming to the Big Apple for SQLSaturday NYC

We may have just wrapped up SQLSaturday Jacksonville, but we're already planning for SQLSaturday New York City! Several of our consultants will be presenting on topics ranging from Azure to Performance Tuning in the Big Apple in just a couple of weeks.

This session will cover baselines, waits and queues, extended events, hardware, pre- and post-configuration checklists, OS patching, query optimizer, plan cache, locking, blocking, deadlocks and more!

Steve Hughes - Introducing the Azure Data Factory

In this session, you will learn how to create a data factory to copy data from an Azure Blob to a SQL database. After working through that solution, you will look at how to use the Data Factory with HDInsight on Azure and Machine Learning activities.

Jason Horner - Dimension Modeling Design Patterns: Beyond Basics

This session will provide a deeper dive into the art of dimensional modeling. We will look at the different types of fact tables and dimension tables, how and when to use them. We will also some approaches to creating rich hierarchies that make reporting a snap.

Josh Luedeman - Show Me Whatca' Workin' With: Big Data Edition

In this session, we're gonna go over Data Mining tools to help you gain some insight from your data. Then, to bring it all together, we'll go over some easy ways to use common tools to show off all of this Big Data of yours, using tools that most have access to.

Bradley Ball - Inside the Query Optimizer

In this session, you will look at the rules in SQL Server, write queries to show those rules in action, and walk out with a better understanding of how the Optimizer works. This is the first step in learning how to use the Optimizer's rules to make your queries faster!
