We are excited to announce the release of the Microsoft Power BI Quick Start Guide book written by our very own Devin Knight, Brian Knight, Mitchell Pearson and Manuel Quintana! In a recent webinar the authors talked about key highlights from the book that you’ll want to know, as well as answered questions about the book.
Why did they take the time to write this book? At Pragmatic Works we love to learn and love to teach and train others, especially about how to use technology like Power BI, which has been a hot topic for quite some time. Our team has spent a lot of time with customers training them with Power BI and getting it implemented in their organizations.
The authors wanted a book that started off rudimentary and to help get people started as fast as possible. This book is under 200 pages, so it allows people to read it quickly and get to start to using Power BI right away. They designed this book for existing data and BI professionals who have been working with tools like SSIS, SSRS and SSAS and need to bridge that gap into Power BI. But even if you’re not currently a BI professional, you can still get a lot out of this book.
The authors cover Power BI from beginning to end. The book starts with getting you familiar with Power BI and the concepts, as well as data importing and Power Query. Then it heads into Data Modeling and DAX for building relationships from disparate data sources. From there it digs deep into the fun side of visualizations, as well as a look at administration.
