What Should I Move to the Cloud?

Written by Adam Jorgensen | Feb 15, 2018

There are many organizations like yours that are trying to figure out how to take that first step into the cloud this year. Maybe it will help to hear what we are seeing our customers make the highest priority as they are moving into the cloud.

Below are the 3 highest priority workloads of our clients:

1. Big Data and Analytics

This is a good place to start. It’s not necessarily about having tons of data, but it’s about wanting to get more flexible in how they are analyzing that data. Companies are using things like HDInsight, Spark, Azure Machine Learning, Python R, etc. and they want to bring all that together. There are lots of those skills available in the market and is easy to pick up in Azure.

2. Moving Servers into the Cloud

Many companies are making an infrastructure migration into the cloud a priority. In doing so, they get their data into the cloud so they can start modernizing that architecture and workload. Some can’t do big data until they get their data there.

3. Data Warehousing and BI

Definitely one of the best workloads for the cloud because of things like Azure Data Factory. We get a lot more flexibility there. It gives us opportunities to scale out and scale performance, as well as integrating Azure Blob Storage and bringing data in without modeling it.

These are the things businesses are focusing on for 2018 when it comes to the cloud. Pragmatic Works has helped many of our over 7,000 customers to be successful with their cloud priorities.
