May the 4th Be With You

May the 4th Be With You

May_the_4th

In case you weren't aware, today is Star Wars Day! Also known as May the 4th Be With You, it's arguably the best geek holiday of the year. I'm Liz and I'm the marketing manger at Pragmatic Works and a life-long Stars Wars enthusiast. As a Star Wars lover, I'm so excited that I work for a company which allows me to share how my love of all things Stars Wars was passed on to me.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved the movies. My dad is an avid fan and has transferred his obsession on to me. To this day one of my dad's favorite things to say to me is, "Liz, I am your father." He also enjoys walking around making the Darth Vader breathing noises.

Like most males, my dad is not a shopper. The one gift I can remember him personally going out and buying me was the box set of Episodes 4, 5 & 6 when they were first released on DVD. I can't tell you how excited I was to open that. As a poor college student I was happy I didn't have to buy it for myself. Another purchase my dad made several years ago was talking Darth Vader helmets. He likes to put one on and annoy my step mom and sister. I find this highly entertaining as does my 6-year-old.

Speaking of my 6-year-old, my dad and I are aggressively trying to get my son to "come to the dark side" in regards to loving Star Wars. While he likes it, it is not his favorite thing. His favorite thing is Transformers, but my dad and I have not stopped pushing him towards Star Wars and I have no doubt we will eventually be successful.

As you can see from the pictures, my dad and I have both dropped large sums of cash on toys and apparel for my son.IMG_1068

Being a girl and passionate Star Wars is quite a unique thing. I would say 95% of the time, I have to discuss the movies with males. I am also highly offended when I find out another female has not even seen Star Wars. Just ask my coworker Haley. :)

Bottom line for me is that I am so happy my dad shared one of his passions with me. I feel that Star Wars is one of the greatest movie series of all time and I am proud to acknowledge my inner geek to share this.
