Premium Capacity without Power BI Premium

But one of our goals is to learn something new about Azure every day, as things are constantly changing and being updated. Many people are still learning all the amazing things they can do within the Azure cloud and we want to help. Our posts in our Azure Every Day series are a great way to learn more about Azure each week.

Do you know there is an option for utilizing Power BI premium capacity within workspaces without having Power BI Premium? Many are not aware of this option, so I’m here to tell you about it.

You can do this by utilizing Power BI Embedded to activate your workspace with premium capacity, even if you only have a Pro license. There are some pros and cons and this option is not free. You will get charged but if you’re looking to get premium capacity on one specific workspace, this option will be extremely cheaper than buying Power BI Premium.

Of course, you can use this option to activate as many workspaces as you want but as you may know, Power BI Embedded is pay-per-use so the more you use it, the more your fees are. However, this is a great option to use Power BI Embedded to activate a Power BI Premium capacity for specific workloads.
