In this video, Angelica Choo Quan from Pragmatic Works discusses significant updates to the PL-300 Power BI Certification Exam that took effect in April 2024. These updates specifically focus on improving Power BI reports for usability and storytelling.
One major change is the addition of two new skills:
To enable personalized visuals, the report creator must turn on the feature in the report settings:
Once enabled, users will see a personalized visual icon in the report headers, allowing them to modify the visuals in their view.
In Power BI Service, report viewers can change visual types, swap dimensions or measures, and add new fields to legends. These changes can be saved as personal bookmarks to retain customization for future views. For example, users can switch from a stacked bar chart to a column chart or add fields such as City to a legend.
Expect scenario-based questions that ask you to provide users with customizable report views. Questions may ask you to differentiate between using personalized visuals, bookmarks, or drill-through pages to meet user needs.
To fully prepare for these updates, review Microsoft’s official documentation on report accessibility and explore Pragmatic Works' training resources. Enable and practice with the personalized visuals feature in Power BI Desktop to familiarize yourself with its functions.
