Prerequisites

This bootcamp is designed for beginners who are eager to start their journey with SharePoint. While no prior web design experience is required, familiarity with basic design concepts will be beneficial. Ideal participants include: - SharePoint End Users - SharePoint Content Creators - SharePoint Administrators - Anyone with a keen interest in data and technology Prior knowledge is a plus but not mandatory. A willingness to learn and a passion for data are the most important prerequisites.

System Requirements

    • To ensure a smooth learning experience, participants are required to have a laptop with the following system specifications:
    • Operating System: Windows 10/11, macOS (latest versions)
    • Web Browser: Latest versions of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari
    • Office Integration: Microsoft 365 Apps (Office 2016 or later recommended)
    • Network: Reliable internet connection; bandwidth of at least 1 Mbps recommended
    • Authentication: Azure Active Directory (AAD) for identity management
    • The ability to create SharePoint sites

    • Navigate the Admin Center and explore site settings
    • Review site settings and create a new site collection
  • Module 2: Managing Site Collections and Hub Sites
    • Planning site architecture
    • Registering and associating hub sites
    • Create a hub site and associate subsites
    • Map out a site architecture for a department
    • Register a hub site and link team sites
  • Module 3: Storage, Quotas, and Lifecycle Policies
    • Understanding pooled storage
    • Setting quotas and cleanup policies
    • View storage reports and set site-level quotas
    • Apply a lifecycle policy to a site or library
  • Module 4: Permissions Deep Dive
    • Microsoft 365 Groups vs. SharePoint Groups
    • Creating and applying custom permission levels
    • Create a custom permission level and assign it
    • Compare group types and assign permissions accordingly
  • Module 5: Monitoring & Reporting
    • Usage analytics, page diagnostics, audit logs
    • Run a usage report and analyze page performance
    • Review site usage and identify top-performing content
  • Module 6: Compliance, Security & Final Q&A
    • Sensitivity labels, retention policies
    • External sharing policies and governance
    • Apply a sensitivity label and configure external sharing
    • Review and adjust site compliance settings

Justin Vogel taught high school Advanced Placement® psychology and academic research for 15 years. He holds an MS in Psychology and spent several summers teaching psychology to educators new to the subject. He has also scored AP exams, reviewed textbooks for the Florida Department of Education, and written exam questions for test banks.  He has presented at professional learning conferences at the local and national level and now puts his teaching and presentation skills to use on the Power BI team at Pragmatic Works.
