University of New Haven had challenges with their reporting system and were looking for a better way to create reports in real-time, as well as the ability to easily review reports across departments and to compare multiple years’ worth of data, and ultimately make better decisions.
The University teamed up with Pragmatic Works to evaluate Microsoft’s Power BI as a dashboard, reporting and analytics tool. Before we came in, they had been using Excel, which they found to be error prone, required a lot of manual reporting and could compare no more than a year’s worth of data. Their reports have high visibility across many University departments, so they required a solid reporting system.
As none of their internal team had any Power BI experience, they partnered up with Pragmatic Works to build a Power BI architecture, as well as offer expert assistance with implementation. The University now has the benefit of an aesthetically pleasing dashboard, the ability to create reports in real-time and to easily compare previous years data with the current year.
The new Power BI solution also guarantees that the data is vetted before entering the reporting platform, thus eliminating bad data and faulty reports.
